Mick La Rock, formerly known as Mickey, is one of Europe's first and foremost female graffiti artists. Thanks in part to the Groninger Museum's focus on graffiti, she got in touch with graffiti writers from New York in the nineties. She has lived in Amsterdam and New York, where she collaborated on large murals and became a part of the graffiti scene. Her current minimalistic two-dimensional and three-dimensional pieces based on graffiti display influences of brutalist architecture and Russian abstract art from the 20th century. Next to her work as a visual artist, Mick La Rock is also a curator of street art and graffiti.
