Around 1970, Taki 183 from New York was already rather famous in the burge-oning graffiti culture. He had a part-time job as a messenger, so got a lot around and tagged everywhere. But his fame catapulted when The New York Times paid him a visit in the summer of 1971 and wrote a longish article about him.

It is disputed how much influence the Taki article actually had on graffiti culture. But it's guite certain that Taki 183 has achieved legendary status - and that it also happened because of the article. With this work Decoy pays tribute to one of the true originals - and thus at the same time keeps the history of graffiti alive.
